HA NOI — Nguyen Thuy Dung, from Soc Son High School, and Tran Nguyen Uyen Linh, from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, beat 23 contestants to win the special grand prize in the singing contest Let’s Get Loud on Tuesday evening. Each girl won an Attila motorbike from contest sponsor SYM and two full scholarships to learn English at Language Link. Each prize is valued at VND37 million (US$2,300). Four prizes of VND7 million each were also awarded to two high school students and two university music groups. The annual contest, currently in its 6th year, is open to Ha Noi high school and university students and was held at the Friendship Cultural Palace. This year, it attracted some 1,000 contestants According to the organising committee, the contest is not only a chance for contestants to develop their talent and boost their confidence, but also encourages students to listen and speak in English by singing famous international songs.
