Le Son village at Van Hoa Commune, Quang Trach, Quang Binh is famous for studying success. It’s the hometown of 600 bachelors degree holders, over 30 professors, associate professors, doctors and dozens of generals serving in the army and police.

One of them is the famous historical researcher Prof. Luong Duy Trung and Luong Duy Thu; Prof. - Dr. Nguyen Tu The working for Hue Central Hospital; Associate Prof. - Dr. Luong Ngoc Binh is Provincal Party Committee Secretary cum Chairman of People’s Council of Quang Binh Province and Le Duy Bach, one of the first geological doctors.

Studying results become the standard of success in this village. We visited the village at the beginning of the lLnar New Year and met teacher Luong Ngoc De who is 83 years old but still very sound in mind. He told us about the history of the village.

In 1471, General Le Van Hanh was accompanied by King Le Thanh Tong to fight against Chiem Thanh and stationed in Thanh Khe then went up Vong Vang. They found it had a nice terrain. After the war, he asked the King to provide land and strong men from 8 families to set up the village. Then he invited teacher Nghe Tran Canh Huong from Nghe An to come and cultivate the people here.

Since then, private schools have been introduced. Despite poverty and a naturally harsh environment, people here set studying as their priority. They launched a studying promotion to encourage people here. Those who have good learning results will have good lives.

Luong Xuan Que, Party Committee Secretary of Van Hoa Commune told us proudly of his village, “In the light that education has become national policy and education socialisation is the key task of the local party and authorities, accordingly, teaching quality and facilities is of highly concern along with studying promotions. As a result, all families pay attention to learning, improving literacy levels and serving the country better.”

There are about 3,500 people in the village but 800 out of them are teachers in schools all over the country. It’s an amazing village in Vietnam.

Everyday, the village announces its outstanding people with excellent study results and education related issues to encourage local people to keep studying.
